Tiffany – In 2010, Boston Primary became the first school to win the Growsmart competition and Tiffany Sprout was one of their proud team members. Tiffany was so encouraged and motivated by this achievement that she applied for a scholarship through the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.
Tiffany’s application was one among five thousand other applications, but she was not discouraged. Her application was shortlisted and Tiffany then had to write tests and attend workshops and interviews. All this was followed by the Allan Gray Selection Camp in 2011, where the most suitable candidates for a full high school scholarship were selected.
Tiffany was one of fifty learners to receive a scholarship, and with that came the opportunity to attend Rustenburg High School in Rondebosch, Cape Town. In order to continue receiving the bursary, Tiffany must achieve an average of at least 65% each year. Tiffany has been working hard, and her current average mark is 80%.
Tiffany says that her participation in the Growsmart competition, gave her the confidence to achieve her goals.
