Madison Engelbrecht participated in the Growsmart Literacy Competition in 2018 as a learner from Regina Coeli RC Primary School. Her participation in the programme enabled her to apply for scholarship opportunities from a Growsmart Bursary Partner.
In 2019 she was awarded the Saili bursary and applied to her first-choice school, Claremont High School. She was ecstatic when she was accepted, and her bursary covered her grade 8 and 9 schooling, including fees, stationery and uniform, with a possible extension for grades 10 to 12 based on her academic performance.
Madison is fascinated by the human anatomy, and her dream is to study medicine.
“The Growsmart competition taught me that failure is part of life and should not stop me but rather motivate me,” she says.
