In January 2013, a mere two weeks after her first day at Christel House, Micaela was already settling in and finding her feet. "I've been here for two weeks and have already started to make friends in my class," she said. Ameerah Elmie, a Beacon View Primary Growsmart team member who joined Christel House in 2012, has become a close friend. Micaela said that her time at Christel House has boosted her self-esteem and that she now has more self-confidence.
"I was quite nervous on my first day, because the school was so big. But everyone was so kind and the school so lovely, I soon felt more relaxed". Micaela spends her days swimming, playing volleyball and enjoying the facilities at Christel House. "I love the computer rooms and the library, there is so much for me to read," she explained.
"When I grow up, I'd like to become a bank manager. I enjoy interacting with people and working with numbers, but there is still lots to learn," she said.
