The maths competition will consist of teams of three learners from the participating Growsmart schools. They cannot compete in any other Growsmart competition during that year, nor may they have competed in any previous Growsmart competitions.
Each school may select three learners from the pool of learners in Grades 4, 5 and 6 (they must not be the same learners who are competing in the Growsmart Literacy, Story writing or Science competitions).
To prepare for the competition, each team must practice the maths exercises in the Growsmart newspapers, as well as questions from their textbooks (curriculum-based). The maths problems in the competition will be of a similar nature.
Teams will compete against each other for points, with the winning team going through to the next level of the competition. The points will be based on the number of maths problems that they solved correctly.
